In this Chapter we introduce one of the two fundamental pillars of Calculus: **the derivative**. Its definition, and magic, rely heavily on the *limit*, which we explored extensively in the preceding Chapter. We’ll first build up our understanding of what the derivative means and what it tells us, and then start to develop some tools to be able to compute derivatives quickly and efficiently.
